Set something up for the summer - doesn't have to be med school or science related. If you can spend some time in a research lab or shadow a doctor that would be great. If you can't, that's okay. Just be involved doing something productive. Volunteer, work a job, whatever. Summer: Do aforementioned thing. Try to complete college applications before senior year starts. You'll be a lot happier that way, trust me. Senior year: Get good grades fall semester if you need them. Spring semester, don't do anything stupid or fail to graduate. Undergrad freshman year: It does not matter which major you choose as long as you complete the undergrad requirements for medical schools. Grades are still really important. Pick up some extracurriculars, but don't let it get out of control. A strong med school app is built around GPA, MCAT, and recommendations. Everything else is just dressing. Summer - Do something. Expand your role in one of your clubs or do research or shadow a doctor or work, whatever. A note on physician shadowing - it's useful, but only up to a point. Med schools like to see that you've spent long enough in patient care environments to have a realistic idea of what it's like. That's all. Don't sink to much time into this because it's not like you are looking to pick up practical experience - that's what M3 and M4 are for. Sophomore year - Do not underestimate organic chemistry. Sophomore summer - do summer stuff. Consider taking the MCAT this summer if you are able. That way, if you need to retake, you have a lot of time (about a year) to prepare. Junior year - Get As, take MCAT if not done. Junior summer - complete AMCAS application as early as possible. The earlier your common app is in, the earlier you get secondaries. The earlier your secondaries are in, the better your chances of getting invited to interview. Start any secondaries you receive. Senior fall - Complete secondaries, go to interviews and shit. Senior spring - review acceptances, attend revisit weekends, pick school med school - don't fail, take boards, become doctor Sent from Mail for Windows 10

What with her being largely irrelevant to the plot. Its part of the reason why I have come to dislike Varrick, he stole any plot importance Asami could have had. She as a character has always been defined by her relationships to other characters. But I don't think you can go on to call her a trophy, or her and Korra's relationship unhealthy. I think those were my two biggest issues with that tumblr post. If it had been about how Asami is a bit of a shallow character and needed a decent purpose in the story, before having her end up in a relationship with Korra, I might have agreed. Because as we get closer to the beginning of the season all of the hype will be on teams like GB, DEN, NE, NO, DET, DAL, NYG etc. Tannehill has been fairly inconsistent during his career. Due to this, his value will most likely drop. Add this to the fact that after the top 3/4 QBs most don't get drafted until rounds 8/9 (depending on the league) and we're looking at Tannehill, at best, have a R10 ADP. As for Miller, the rumors are that the coaching staff does not like him. Not sure why, but those are the rumors. They will most likely sign someone in the off-season and Miller will be pushed toward the back up role despite his brilliant year. If this happens, just keep in mind that he could be worth reaching for a round ahead of his ADP. Sent from Mail for Windows 10

You are absolutely right -- groups of people can be and often are abusive, cruel or uncaring. And it would be a reasonable thing to say, for instance, that in this group of people, or this company, there are no men/women worth dating, befriending etc. However, IMHO this tends to break down as we look at whole societies. Here's the thing. In my daily routine I make my way through different groups of people, most of them very different from each other. If I find myself thinking that all these groups and individual people are characterised by a single negative trait, I need to start asking myself why? Here are some questions I might ask myself, if everyone I meet seems to be an idiot. Am I maybe subconsciously seeking out stupid people, because I like to feel superior to them? Or maybe I'm used to this kind of interaction and feel safer than engaging with smarter people than me? Am I just having the wrong conversations with them? I like physics, but they may be into poetry. Do I simply have unreasonable expectations of what the average person will know or find interesting? Because it's statistically very unlikely that everyone I meet is stupid. There's some selection going on there, and I'm the likeliest culprit. That's what I meant in my previous post. Now, there is no human interaction that could be fully and correctly explained in three sentences. I'm sure you can think of examples where my point will not hold. But I stand by it -- it's a useful rule of thumb. Sent from Mail for Windows 10

2) The Santa Brand Book "Santa is a Concept, not an idea. It's an Emotion, not a feeling. It's both Yesterday and Today. It's Tomorrow as well." That's how this ingenious brand book from communications consulting firm Quietroom begins. And believe me when I say the rest of it is just as kooky and wonderfully facetious. Case in point: Take a look below at this "brand house" that details the core components of Old Saint Nick's brand strategy. I ... I can't even.
3) Apple Holiday Commercial Oh, Apple — how you've done it again. Say what you will about the tech giant, but hot damn, do they know how to churn out one wonderful ad after another. The streak stays alive with this touching spot that, once again, shows the company's a step ahead of the competition when it comes to showing the usefulness of its products and adding in that human element that draws people in. (The use of Cat Power's rendition of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" certainly bolsters that personal touch Apple is so well-known for adding to its commercials.)
4) Coke Zero Sweater Generator Interactive sites are becoming more popular each and every day, and thus, it's no surprise that some well-known brands are jumping on board with the marketing concept. Take Coca-Cola for instance. With this Sweater Generator, it's clear the soda-maker certainly gets that holiday marketing doesn't need to focus on its product and should be warm, inviting, and personable.
5) Netflix "Fireplace for Your Home" Trailer Think of where Netflix was just a couple years ago, when it announced its ill-fated plans for a second service called Qwikster (which led to substantial backlash and some poor PR). Today, though, it's a whole different story. In addition to awesome original programming (if you're not watching House of Cards, you should be), it's nailing every aspect of its marketing. Want proof? Look no further than the fake trailer below.

6) Topshop Pinterest Contest Conducting a social media contest is a premier way to draw visitors to your accounts on Facebook and Pinterest. One company that seems to have hit the mark with its own contest is the clothing retailer Topshop. With a contest like the one the company created around its #DearTopshop hashtag, in which users can win various prizes by pinning Topshop items to their boards, brands can secure not only hefty amounts of traffic to their social sites, but also garner loyal followers and even customers.

7) John Lewis Christmas Advertisement Another sentimental promo in the vein of Apple's aforementioned ad comes from John Lewis and harkens back to the days of the old-school, animated Christmas specials (A Charlie Brown Christmas, The Velveteen Rabbit, etc.). The retailer certainly worked some magic with this spot, which has generated some considerable (and warranted) buzz. And once again, here's another promo using music to perfection — this time, it's Lily Allen with a lighter version of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know." Well done, John Lewis marketers. Well done.

8) Uncommon Goods Though not as "sexy" as minute-long commercials, interactive sites, or social contests, good-ol' email marketing is still a more-than-viable option for marketers around the holidays. Uncommon Goods understood this, as evidenced by this appealing email below (which actually displays as an animated GIF in your inbox). It's not only clear and concise in its promotional copy, but the brand also effectively relays the benefits of shopping with the company with its "urgency" angle: 'We offer quick shipping, just in time for the 25th.' Plus, the animated GIF shows you when you can place your order to receive your gifts in time for Christmas.
